Over Seas Restaurant, One of Our Favorites!

Southern California has so much to offer and there is always something to do.  We've been going to Overseas Restaurant.  I know... it is a rather boring name for a really great place to eat Chinese food.  It is actually located in Carlsbad at 2820 Roosevelt Avenue; off of Grand, two blocks north on Roosevelt.  (Across from Hennessey's Tavern.)

You won't find it by its flashy exterior or if you are looking for huge signs out front.  It is rather obscure, tucked back in a corner of a rather drab little stretch of office buildings. 

It is authentic Chinese food and really delicious!  We love the Cashew Nut Chicken and the Crispy Beef, but anything you order is going to be great!

Renting Our Condo Can Be Rather Complicated

Renting our condo by ourselves is not as simple as it seems.  Often-times it requires several emails back and forth, special arrangements with Koni, who cleans the condo for us, FedEx-ing rental agreements and keys overnight, buying cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, fixing things that break down and replacing things that have a way of "disappearing". 

We want everyone to enjoy their stay in Oceanside!  We want them to enjoy it so much that they tell their friends so we really do try to accommodate everyone.  With that thought in mind, I thought maybe I could answer a few questions here on the blog.

1. "Why do we have to be out by noon?"The reason we ask you to check out by noon is so Koni can have time to wash all the towels and linens, remake all the beds and clean the condo from top to bottom before the next guests arrive at 3:00 PM.  And that answers the next question which is, "Why can't we arrive before 3:00 PM. 

2.  "Why can't be BBQ on the patio?"  It is the association policy that there be no BBQing on the patio.  Grills are provided throughout the complex so make good use of them.  Leave them looking nice for the next guests. 

3.  "Do you have beach toys, boogie boards, surf boards, beach chairs, etc?"  We do but we do not have them available for guest use.  As I mentioned earlier, things have a way of "disappearing".  We wish we could let you use them, we really do. 

4. " How do we know you are not a scammer, this sounds like too good of a deal?"  I get asked this all the time and I really do not know how to answer it.  I understand your concern, I really do so, if a walk through with a family member or friend who lives in the area would help, we are happy to have Koni come do that for you, as we actually live in another state.  But, Koni has a family and a life so please understand that it will cost $15 to arrange to have her do that.  Also, it would help to have those of you who have stayed with us before, post your comments in the comments section.  If you are willing to be a 'reference' we could probably work out a small discount for your next stay.

Spring and Summer Vacation Time!

We'd like to welcome Koni Prettyman as our new condo helper.  She is the one who keeps our condo looking nice and clean.  Sometimes that can be a little tough to do when people leave and others arrive on the same day.  That is why we ask that all departing guests leave by noon and all arriving guests arrive no earlier than 3:00 PM.  Koni has a lot to do in those three hours!

We just started advertising for the upcoming Spring and Summer months. If you are at all interested in renting our cute and comfortable condo, send us an email soon, as things begin filling up fast.

Updates, Updates, and More Updates

I have two different blogs for our condo.  One was started several years ago but we eventually quit using it.  The other one is just a couple of years old.  Each was created under a different email address.  For some crazy reason, some of my last several posts have gone to the old blog site.  I can't even access the new one anymore!  So, I guess this one will be our new condo site until something else messes us up!

So with that being said, we are gearing up for Spring!  I, for one, am so tired of cold, snow, ice, inversions, slush and dirty cars.  I want to sit in the sun!  And, if you do too, you are in luck!  We are renting our condo out for the same prices we rented it last year, which is good news for you!  We challenge you to find a better deal in southern California! 

For only a $50 reservation fee to hold your dates and $75 a night, with a minimum three night stay, you can rent our warm and wonderful condo.  It is a fully furnished two bedroom, two bath, two patio condo in the beautiful Avalon complex.  It is a shady, corner unit on the ground floor.  The complex has a huge swimming pool, tennis court, workout room, tot-lot play area, and a putting green.  It is located close to all freeways and only 1 1/2 miles from the beach!  Go north to the theme parks or south to Sea World or Legoland!  There is an awesome outlet mall just a few miles away in Carlsbad, just off of Palomar Airport Road. Or, stay in Oceanside and enjoy their beautiful beaches, movie theaters, charming restaurants and the pier. 

We are already booking for spring and summer and the calendar is filling up fast!  Don't wait to reserve your dates!

Wow! I can't believe it is June already!

Where has the time gone?  May I missed April and May flew by, and now it's June!  Our condo has been pretty full with vacationing families, people attending weddings and military families visiting for bootcamp graduation.  But, we have had a couple of cancellations and it turns out that the condo is available form June 17th through the end of the month!

August is booked and we are booked for part of Septmber as well.  If you are thinking about 'getting away from it all' come stay in our little condo.  California still has beautiful weather in the Fall months and things aren't as crowded as the summer time.  It's the perfect time and place to relax!
